The future of Nigeria depends on our ability to guarantee food security and harness the potential in the agricultural sector.

Sen. Sunday Katung (PDP-Kaduna) says he has attracted a $6 million agricultural investment to the Southern Kaduna from a group of U.S. investors.

Katung, who represents Kaduna South at the National Assembly, said this in Kafanchan during the 2024 National Agricultural Day Celebration organised by the state chapter of the National Association of Agricultural Students.

He said that the investors would invest heavily in the agricultural sector in southern Kaduna.

Hesaid that the investors would also train farmers on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in farming.

“The future of Nigeria depends on our ability to guarantee food security and harness the potential in the agricultural sector.

“We must go back to that era when everyone was involved in production, whether for subsistence or commercial purposes. We need to unearth the opportunities for employment and wealth creation in agriculture.

“In southern Kaduna, there abound untapped potentials in piggery, ranching, fishing, and processing for exports, and our youths need to develop an interest in those areas while also seeking partnerships that will help them blossom,” he said.

The lawmaker alsocommended President Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian Army, and other security agencies for securing the most troubled communities in Southern Kaduna.

Katung also appealed to other investors to take advantage of the improved security situation in the area by investing their money for good returns.
