Abraysports Football Club, an amateur side in Ilorin, says it is ready to go a step further next season to secure a place in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

Speaking ahead of the new season with newsmen in Ilorin on Tuesday, coach Gbolade Ezekiel, believed the team was ready to go a step higher and secure the promotion ticket for the NNL.

“It is a new season, and we are ready to compete for the NNL ticket. We lost narrowly last year, but we will fight to secure the promotion ticket this time,” he said.

He explained that the team would be competing with a younger squad this time around.

“Last year, we had some experienced players with the team but we are ready to compete with a younger squad,” Ezekiel said.

Meanwhile, the team have also released the list of players for the 2021/2022 season.

The list comprises 22 first-team players and five from the youth team.

Supreme reports that the Black and Yellow Army went on break in June after participating in the Super Talent Football Scouting Tournament, but will report to camp on Aug. 4.

At the end of 2020/2021 Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) campaign, the lads narrowly missed out on the playoff spot in Ekiti centre.

They finished second with 11 points from five games.
