The Chairman of Adamawa Volleyball Association, Stephen Hasso, on Friday in Abuja called for more support for Musa Nimrod, the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF).

Hasso told Newsmen the Nimrod-led federation needed the support of all stakeholders for the development of the game in Nigeria and Africa in particular.

“I urge all stakeholders to support and help him (Nimrod) so that the sport can develop, because he has honestly moved the Federation higher in Nigeria,“he said.

The Association Chairman also urged on Team Nigeria at the ongoing Under-18 Girls and Under-19 Boys African Nations Volleyball Championship.

He said the two teams needed to stay focus in order to excel in the remaining matches of the championship.

“Initially the boys wanted to give us hypertension in their game on Thursday, but as an old player when I saw the pattern of the game I knew they would win.

“It is a good thing to win your first match in any competition like this. The Cameroonians have no fighting spirit, and this helped our players.

“Nigeria will take on Gambia and Morocco in the next two days and I know that our boys will fight to win these matches,” Hasso said.

Supreme reports that Nigeria’s under-19 boys team defeated their Cameroonian counterparts 3-2 in their first match at the championship on Thursday.

The African Nations Volleyball Championship which started on Thursday is expected to end on March 9.
