The organiser of Miss Beautiful Nigeria (MBN) pageant, Fortune Nkem, says that the modelling industry has provided more opportunities for tourism development in the country.

Nkem, popularly known as “Lagarido” told Newsmen in Lagos that the industry had done this by attracting foreigners into the country through its programmes.

“Beauty pageantry in Nigeria has become very attractive because of its inclusion of cultural costumes and creative displays that several foreign investors make it a date to attend.’’

Nkem said that this inclusion had also boosted the nation’s cultural relationship among the comity of nations.

“The industry has created cultural exhibitions in dance and costumes that are showcased by beautifully selected Nigerian young girls,”he said.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lagarido Thrills Global Services said that the industry had also continued to promote national unity through entertainment.

He said that he had been in the industry for no less than 13 years and had the privilege to have crowned no less than 19 beauty queens across Nigeria in West Africa.

“Through our specially organised programmes, we have created entertainment for the populace and upheld national unity through diverse cultural outfits,” he said.

He said that the industry, which started over 40-years ago with the foreign style of young girls exposing their bodies had gradually metamorphosised into a decent and cultural promotion.

“In about a decade back, the pageantry industry was seen as an immoral business but the era is over because the industry has become the nation’s pride.

“The truth is that Africa is a continent with a level of morality.

“Parents or family members of young girls will not be diposed to watching shows where their children will expose their bodies to the public,” he told Newsmen.

He said that the substitution of near nudity or the bikini with the cultural attires had promoted ancestry heritage and values.

Nkem said that the promotion of African attires had convinced the world that the industry could still have a very decent modeling show.
