In a statement signed by the Service Spokesman, Mr Sunday James, Babandede said that the visit was to ascertain level of compliance with directives given to the passport officers nationwide on service delivery.

He encouraged officers and men to be more innovative in areas such as giving women with little children priority especially nursing mothers.

“The aged and elderly members of the society among others should not be left out and same directive applies to all passport offices across the country.

Babandede directed that all payments should be through banks and or online in order to maintain social and physical distancing directives by the government.

“On this note, all applications for passport facility must be paid for online and submitted by the applicants to a desk officer at the passport offices across the country for appropriate action to be taken.

“All Passport issues must be submitted by applicants themselves and directly to a dedicated desk that takes register, record and forward the processed file officially not through any third party,

“Applicants are advised to adhere strictly to the improved Service process and procedures to eliminate touting, extortion and other untoward acts in the passport offices,” he said.

Supreme reports that Babandede visited the two passport processing centres alongside the Assistant Comptroller General, Overseeing the Passport and Other Travel Documents Directorate, Tamprika Oyedeji and Comptroller, FCT Command, Esekhaegbe Angela.
