Breaking: Govt. Wike suspends lockdown order in Rivers State.

Governor Wike in a state-wide broadcast moments ago had announced the suspension of the lockdown order earlier imposed in Port Harcourt local government and Obio Akpor Local government areas of the State.

The temporary suspension will be for a period of 6days only commencing tommorow May 21st and will be restored on Tuesday 26th May, 2020.

He further advised that while Shopping malls, Super markets, Banks and grocery stores are to be OPEN. General Open Markets, Motor parks, Clubs, Restaurants and Hotels are to remain CLOSED. All exit and entry boarders into the State are also to remain CLOSED. Religious gatherings of more that 50 persons remains prohibited.

He further reminded all about the use of Facemask and to observe the earlier social-distancing measures put in place by the task force. Violators will be arrested and summarily dealt with as the law demands.

The Governor solicited the usual cooperation of residents and believes that in no distance time the virus will be a thing of the past.

He expressed deep appreciation to health workers and those in the front line as the fight to win the dreaded virus intensifies.
