Christians should be wary of bitterness and hate speech – Cleric warns

Olusegun Elijah, the Resident Pastor of Christ Foundation Bible Church in Ilorin, has warned Christians against bitterness and hate speech.

Elijah told Supreme Magazine in Ilorin on Thursday that bitter people would not live long and were not always successful.

He said that one secret to success in life is happiness and contentment.

“Bitterness is a spiritual warfare every Christian must fight against. It disconnects one from success.

“A bitter person is a fault finder, he thinks like a fool and speak evil about others.

“They do not live long and are not always better at what they do, they are disconnected from success because they will never pray for others to succeed.

“Bitterness can spread hatred among kinsmen, community and even the church. That is why we have so much violence in our society today.

“God does not want us to be bitter people, he loves it when we are happy and of the right state of mind.

“I charge Christians today, let the word from your mouth bring comfort, encouragement and edification to people.

“Let the world know the God you serve through your actions and love your neighbours because God is love,’’ he said.

Elijah advised every Christian to cultivate a joyful heart, adding that the intention or state of mind of a man may hinder his harvests.
