COVID-19: Kuje residents comply with FG’s restriction order

Residents of Kuje Area Council in the FCT, on Sunday complied with the Federal Government’s restriction order as part of measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 in the country. Supreme learnt that the area council COVID-19 task force, in collaboration with security agencies went round to enforce compliance to the restriction order.

Churches in the area were also under lock and key while the Kuje main market was shut down at 2.p.m. and traders ordered to leave. Among the churches visited were: Evangelical Church Wining All, (ECWA) ; Good News Church, Dunamis Church, St. Kizito Catholic Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God and Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries.

Mr Sunday Zaka, leader of the task force, urged the residents to heed the stay-at-home order and encouraged them to be part of the solution, not the problem, in stopping the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the country. Their is compliance today being Sunday, you can see everywhere is locked down, we went round the streets and area, and we found out that people complied.

The compliance in Kuje Area Council is impressive and we are so happy to see that people have obeyed the Federal Government’s directives. “My message to the people is that, this virus has no cure, it is a deadly disease, everybody should see this lockdown as the only way of securing yourself.”

On his part, the Speaker of Kuje Area Council Legislative Arm, Alhaji Aminu Ibrahim commended people of the area for compliance with the government restriction order. However, some residents who spoke with NAN in the area, called on the government, to provide them with palliatives to help cushion the hardship of the 14 -day lockdown order.
