The Lagos State Council of Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), has called on security agents to provide adequate security for media workers during the 14-day restriction of movement in the state.

The union’s Chairman, Mr Dare Durosimi, made the call in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos, following the 14-day lockdown order by the Federal Government of the state, Ogun and Abuja which took effect from 11 p.m. on Monday.

“This becomes necessary as media workers also provide essential services as established by President Mohammadu Buhari in his broadcast on March 29, ” he said.

The chairman, while appreciating the effort of the state government in fighting COVID-19, urged members of the union to take all preventive measures against the disease.

Durosinmi said: “These include, most importantly, safe greetings, social distancing, washing of hands with soap and running water, among others. Please stay safe and stay alive.”
