The Rivers State Police command has commenced the enforcement order issued by the State government in a bid to restrict movement so as to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic ravaging major parts of the world.

The Governor in a state-wide broadcast issued a dusk to dawn curfew with the effect from Tuesday, 31st March 2020. Supreme magazine gathered that the curfew is targeted a few parts of the city which are: Education Bus Stop to Agip Junction, Ikwerre road – Obiri Ikwerre junction – Ozuoba, Rumualogu – Choba.

On a visit to the monitor the rate of compliance, Supreme notes that the enforcement team led by the DPO’s of Abacha road and Ada George Police Stations were duly ready to maintain the government’s order. Business activities along this route has remained on total lock down as a result of the restriction of movement. This restrictions applies to both vehicular and human movement.

Though the Governor had mentioned a dusk to dawn curfew which details a restriction of movement between the hours of 6pm to 6am. But the reason why the enforcement came into immediate effect is yet unknown.

I urge the government and the Nigeria Police to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the law enforcement agencies on duty and all those enforcing the stay at home order.
