The tricycle riders received the palliatives in Enugu, which also included 1,000 locally made face masks produced by the state government which was sewn by indigenous tailors.

Supreme reports that similar palliatives were recently distributed to tricycle riders at the three Senatorial Districts of Enugu State. This was alongside the Motorcycle Riders and National Union of Road Transport Workers, as part of the state government’s measures to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) lockdown on its residents.

Receiving the items on behalf of his members, the State Chairman of the Tricycle Riders Association, Benjamin Ikah, expressed delight at Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s benevolence. The items included rice, noodles, beans and other food items. Ikah praised the governor for his passionate interest in the welfare of the people, especially the less privileged.

He said: “Today is not the first day His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is remembering us.” Ikah said that the governor had been consistent in assisting the Tricycle Riders to thrive in their business. House of Assembly Committee on Health, Mr Sam Ngene and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Mr Mike Ogbuekwe represented Enugu State Emergency/Palliatives Committee on COVID-19 at the event.
