Dr Shehu Chindo-Yamusa, the Emir of Keffi in Nasarawa State, has urged Nigerians to be security conscious.

He made the call on Tuesday in his Eid-el-Kabir message, while addressing Muslims in his palace in Keffi, Keffi Local Government Area of the state.

He enjoined the people to report suspected movements to appropriate authorities for necessary action.

Chindo-Yamusa said that security should be the responsibility of all in order to ensure peace and development in the country.

“I congratulate you on this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration. We should continue to preach and live in peace and tolerate one another for development to thrive.

“I call on all of us to be security conscious by reporting the suspected movement of any persons or groups to the appropriate authority for necessary action.

“This is in the interest of peace and for the overall development of the country,” he said.

He also called on parents to give adequate attention to the education of their children considering its importance to human and societal development.

“Education is key to development, let’s continue to embrace education,” the emir charged.

The first class traditional ruler also called on wealthy individuals to assist the less privileged in order to improve on their standard of living.

He urged Muslims and other Nigerians to use the Sallah period to pray for the unity, peace, progress and development of the country.

Chindo-Yamusa, however, urged the people to be law-abiding, encouraging them to respect constituted authorities and also to be their brother’s keeper.

Earlier, the Chief Imam of Keffi Central Mosque, Alhaji Muhammadu Auwal, while presiding over the Eid-el-Kabir prayers, urged the faithful to adhere strictly to the teaching of the Holy Qur’an for societal development.

The chief imam prayed for the unity, peace, progress and development of the country.
