Dr Haggai Gutap, the Technical Administrative Head of the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) for Plateau, has advised journalists to regularly develop themselves on current trends in the media world.

Gutap gave the advice at a training for media practitioners organised by the Plateau Radio Television Corporation (PRTVC) chapel of the State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Friday in Jos. Gutap spoke on the topic “The Media Entrepreneur”.

He also advised the journalists to ensure personal development in order to remain relevant and compete favourably in the current media world. He urged the media practitioners to be innovative, pointing out that such move would breed a better media world.

“Journalists should be innovative; you must ensure personal development so that you can compete favourably in this fast changing society“. Get the necessary training and certification that will help you to grow and stand out in your profession.

“Do not wait for your organisation to sponsor you, but you must take bold steps and use your personal resources to develop yourselves“. “You must place high premium on your self development and by so doing, you will add value to yourselves, ”he said. He also urged journalists to constantly network with their colleagues within and outside Nigeria, adding that this would further widen their horizon and promote professionalism.
