Guinness Nigeria Plc has lauded the swift response of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Fire Service to the fire outbreak at its external warehouse on Wempco road in Ogba area of Lagos State.

Its Corporate Relations Director, Mrs Viola Graham-Douglas, gave the commendation in an interview with Newsmen Thursday in Lagos following reports of the fire outbreak.

Graham-Douglas told Newsmen that the fire outbreak was quickly brought under control and recorded no casualties.

She, however, said that the cause of the incidence had not been ascertained and was under investigation.

She reiterated the company’s commitment to ensuring the health and safety of its employees and the communities where it operates.

She said:“On Aug. 13, 2020, there was a fire outbreak at one of our external warehouses on Wempco Road, in the Ogba area of Lagos.

“The fire was swiftly contained and put under control by responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and officials of the Lagos State Fire Service Department.

“Fortunately, there were no injuries or major material loss resulting from the incident as the warehouse is used for storing empty crates.

“Our major production operations take place in our Benin and Ogba Breweries.

“As we continue to investigate the cause of the fire incident, we say a very big thank you to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and officials of the Lagos State Fire Service Department for their swift response and assistance in containing the fire.

“We also thank everyone who was supportive and reached out to us during the incident.”
