The Islamic Trust of Nigeria (ITN), Zaria, has inaugurated a new Management Board to run its affairs for the next three years.

Speaking at the inauguration at Zangon Shanu in Zaria on Monday, ITN’s Director, Suraj Abdulkarim, recalled that the institute was established in the 70’s as a second generation Islamic organisation.

Abdulkarim said that some of the objectives of the organisation were to create awareness among Muslims and educate them to meet challenges of the time, as well as endeavour to lead within available means.

According to him, ITN has established Model Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools.

He said that with the assistance of Islamic Develpment Bank (IDB), the organisation had constructed a Technical Training Centre with the aim of addressing unemployment in the society.

Abdulkarim said it had also established Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), with the aim of giving adults the opportunity to advance their knowledge in Arabic and English languages.

He listed some of the responsibilities of the board as admission of students, determining school fees, and introducing policies for the development of the centre, among others.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that members of the board are Prof. Sule Muhammad, Chairman; Malam Abdullahi Ibn Musa, Malam Zukifli Muhammad and Malam Abdulrahman Salihu.

Other are Hajiya Fatima Shetima, Hajiya Hadiza Tukur, Hajiya Hadiza Sama’ila, Malam Muhammad Lawal, Alhaji Salihu Musa and Malam Ahmad Inuwa, Coordinator, while Malam Mudi Umar-Faruk would serve as Secretary.

The new Chairman of the board, Muhammad thanked ITN management for finding the new board members worthy of the job.

Muhammad pledged to do everything possible to lift the centre to greater heights, and urged the members to be committed.
