Minister of prisons in Sri Lanka resigned due to the unruly behaviour after taking the blame, this made known on Wednesday by the officials.

Two former Tamil rebels, that were inmates in a Anuradhapura jail, 180 kilometres north-east of the capital, was threatening on Sunday by the Prisons’ minister Lohan Ratwatte.

The two inmates were jailed for their involvement in the 26-year civil war that ended in 2009. They were discovered to be members of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

The minister threatened them and said “it is we who decide on when you will be released,” according to other inmates.
