NSCDC sensitises citizens on peaceful coexistence in Oyo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has called on citizens in the state to continue to maintain peaceful coexistence with one another, irrespective of their religious or ethnic affiliations.

The NSCDC Peace and Conflict Resolution unit of the command gave the advice on Thursday during its visit to leaders of Shasa community and other areas within Ibadan metropolis.

Supreme reports that the visit was in commemoration of the 2021 International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO) Day

The NSCDC Commandant in the srate, Iskilu Akinsanya, who was represented by the Unit Head, Modupe Olanitori, a Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC), advised the citizens to continue to live together in peace.

Akinsanya called on Seriki Shasha, Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin, the Baale of Shasha community, Chief Amusa Ajani and other leaders in the area to continue to allow peace to reign.

He said that peace was the only way through which the state’s economy could grow and thrive.

“There will be no business or development where there are religious and ethnic crises,” he said.

Akinsanya, who also visited all the areas affected during the Sasa market crisis, encouraged the traders and residents of the area to see the reopening the market by Gov. Seyi Makinde as a welcome development.

According to him, the gesture should to be reciprocated by the people by being law abiding and showing love to one another.

He called on the people of the state to report any criminal activity in their areas at any NSCDC office nearest to them for prompt action.
