Police urge retired officers in Ebonyi to key into nationwide NHIS enrolment

The Nigeria Police Force has advised retired policemen in Ebonyi to key into the ongoing nationwide enrolment of police retirees into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Mrs Loveth Odah, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said this in a statement in Abakaliki on Thursday.

Odah said the enrolment which would be alongside spouses of the retirees, was for all retired policemen irrespective of their ranks of retirement.

She said that the exercise was to enable the retired policemen have access to all NHIS services and benefits covered by the Police Health Maintenance Organization (Police-HMO) code 073.

Odah said that the enrolment and data capturing would hold in the six Area Commands and Headquarters of the Command between Sept. 21 and Sept. 23.

“The Command wishes to inform retirees of the Nigeria Police Force that the Inspector-General of Police, I-G Mohammed Adamu has directed nationwide registration and capturing of all retired officers into National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

“The directive is in line with the approval given by the Federal Government.

“The exercise will hold in the six Area Command Headquarters of the Command namely; Abakaliki, Afikpo, Nkalagu, Ohaukwu, Onueke, and Ohaozara from Monday, Sept. 21 to Wednesday Sept. 23, by 8:00 a.m.

“To this end, the retirees are enjoined to visit any of the Area Commands nearest to them on the mentioned dates for the enrollment, “Odah said.

She added: “Those enroling are advised to bring along with them some basic requirements including; the National Identity Number for spouse and principal enrolee, letter of retirement and retiree’s identity card.

“The state Commissioner of Police enjoins the senior citizens to seize this opportunity and make themselves available for the capturing and strictly observe COVID-19 protocols during the exercise to avoid community spread.”
