As a prolific writer, he took time to pen down their amazing love story. He wrote,

“what are the chances that a boy, aged 6, will meet a girl aged 3 in the Children Department in church and 22 years later after puberty and secondary school crushes and many friendships, they will be walking down the aisle in that same church they grew up? Sounds like a Disney fairytale right? Well, that is our love story.

We don’t really remember how we related as kids but we are typical 90s kids who went to church with their bible, jotter and pen and had our respective clique of friends whom we played ‘Oga’ and ‘Catcher’ with. One memory we both hold dear is the first day we held a conversation. It was in Church – of course – Soibi was sketching some designs on her fashion sketchbook and explaining to a girl sitting next to her when I walked in and just got fascinated. I don’t know if it was the sketch or it was her beauty or how intelligent she sounded? I really can’t place it, I just know I was fascinated and I asked her “Did you draw this?” and she said “Yes” and we began to talk.

However, this is not really a bollywood love-at-first sight story. From then on we became friends and had so many ups and downs – getting into relationships prematurely and experiencing breakups, having personality clashes, struggling with the confusions of teenagehood, having to both wait for long before securing university admission, and so on and so forth.

Five years ago after many episodes, we decided to be serious and give love a chance. Although we had many factors standing in our way like our family and tribal differences, lack of a steady source of income to mention a few, we made a covenant to allow God to lead everything in our relationship. Many times when we had disagreements and said “I am no longer interested in this thing…” God always brought us back and love always found a way. As we both grew closer to God and got baptized in the Holy Spirit we noticed that we started to become better people.

Today we seem like one soul in two different bodies. Our values, our purpose, our passions and aspirations have all merged. Our gifts and temperaments, although unique and different, have become complimentary. We can now no longer imagine our lives and future without each other. We pray that Jesus the owner of the Church, where we both found each other, will always remain the center of our love. We also hope our story inspires you to find and hold on to true love.”

As an organised man, he launched a full website in knot.com just for the wedding, to provide his quests with all the necessary information.

In the midst of the season, he recently tweeted, “if you want to marry from Kalabari land, as you dey check your love, dey also check your pocket o.”
