PRESIDENT BUHARI RECEIVES D’TIGRESS IN ABUJA
President Muhammadu Buhari received the victorious D’Tigress during Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja. The senior national women basketball team had on Sunday won the 2017 FIBA Women’s Afro Basket Championship at Bamako in Mali after beating defending champions Senegal in the final match.
In celebration of this victory, the Minister of Sports had this to say “Becoming Women’s Afro Basket champion after 12 years is an achievement worthy of celebration. Winning the African Championship for the third time establishes you (Nigeria) as a force to reckon with in African basketball. I am convinced that this will boost your confidence to perform well at the World Championship in Spain in 2018,’’
