Letter addressed to Governor Wike

The Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Company (SSAEAC) South South zone wish to draw the attention of the general Public and those in Authority over the pitiable situation the new MD/CEO has subjected the Electricity workers.

In press briefing organized in Port Harcourt, the union stated that “ it was authoritatively informed that the MD/CEO of PHED has concluded plans to sack 120 staff of PHEDC which 80% of those penciled down are from the PHEDC headquarter- host state(Rivers State).”

The purported sack as disclosed by the union is billed to commence on Monday, June 1st 2020.

The Union Ag. Secretary South South, Comrade Innocent Lord-Douglas used this medium to call on the State Governments of Rivers, Bayelsa , Akwa Ibom and Cross River State and leaders of thought to intervene and stop the MD/CEO from embarking on sacking the staff.

Termination letter issued by the MD/CEO

He equally used this medium to inform staff of PHEDC not to accept, receive or sign any sack letter from the MD/CEO.

In another development, the Chapter Chairman has stated that the MD/CEO decided to embark on the proposed sack in retaliation to the embarrassment melted on him by Governor Wike during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Supreme recalls that the Governor had instructed the Covid-19 task force team to send the MD to quarantine centre for flouting the lockdown order. Upon realization from one of his aide that the man in question was the MD of PHEDC, he immediately ordered that he should be released unconditionally and with immediate effect.

The MD has vowed to melt his grievance on Rivers Indigenes who are staff of PHCN as lamented by the Chapter Chairman who was his first victim.

The said Victim, Mr Paulinus Akpan in his words narrated his ordeal with how he became an escape goat. “I had visited the MD to express my concern over what transpired between him and Governor Wike. He got so mad and walked me out of his office saying the same embarrassment that was melted on him will soon get to all his River Brothers and sisters who are staff of PHEDC. I thought it was just a usual temperament as a result of what had happened. Not knowing that he had set up a panel to query me. The Panel came up with their report and exonerated me from any allegations. He got angry, rejected the Panel’s report and went ahead to issue me a Sack letter which I refused to receive.”

The Union also mentioned that a letter had being written to his Excellency, Governor Wike to notify him about the development.

The Panel’s exoneration report on Mr. Paulinus.

Mr. Paulinus is calling for Justice and that the relevant authorities should kindly intervene to save him and other vulnerable Rivers State Indigenes who have also being penciled for sack.

He has furnished the Press with copies of the sack letter, copy of the Panel’s report exonerating him of any violation and the letter written to Governor Wike about the development.
