An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday alleged a 69-year-old landlady, Rose Ibe, and her son, Christopher, 46, for evicting a tenant without a court warrant.

The police charged the defendants with damage and breach of peace but they pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. at No. 4, Ololade St., New Oko-oba, Agege, Lagos.

Emuerhi said that the defendants forcefully evicted the complainant, Mr Sunday Boyede and damaged the locks of the entrance door of his apartment.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 339 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Chief Magistrate Abiodun Adegbaye admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

Adegbaye adjourned the case until Sept. 30 for mention.
