Alhaji Halilu Usman, the Osu-Ajiri and Paramount Ruler of the Edege Chiefdom in Nasarawa Local government Area of Nasarawa, on Monday conferred traditional titles on 13 prominent people in the area.
The ruler said the conferment of the titles was parts of his effort towards engaging the services of competent and reliable people that would help in providing quality leadership in the chiefdom.
Speaking during their turbanning in his palace in Udegem-Mbeki, the Osu Ojiri stated that the new chiefs were all selected based on their good leadership qualities.
He tasked them to ensure that they live above board in the discharge of their responsibilities.
While congratulating them and the entire Muslim communities for the successful completion of fasting in the Holy Month of Ramadan, the traditional rulers admonished them to internalise and bring to bear the lessons learnt during the fasting.
Usman, a former Deputy Governor of the old Plateau, used the occasion to express his people’s gratitude to the state government for awarding the N3.5 billion Mararraba-Edege-Agwada Road.
On his own part, the paramount ruler expressed the delight that since his installation he had assisted in boosting education in the chiefdom through the establishment of the Al-Iman School, the provision of jobs for the youth, the renovation of the palace and enhancement of security in the area.
The Osu-Ajiri expressed his support for President Muhammadu Buhari, Gov. Abdullahi Sule and the Chairman of the state’s traditional council and Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Mohammed.
