Mr Johnson Magaji, the Ujah of Anaguta Chiefdom of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau, has expressed optimism that Nigeria will soon overcome the challenges currently facing it. Magaji stated this at a Public Lecture organised by the Plateau Radio Television Corporation (PRTVC) chapel of the State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Thursday in Jos.

The public lecture had the theme: “Engaging Non-State Actors in Tackling Insecurity in Nigeria. ”According to him, insecurity is the major challenge facing the country today, and will soon be a thing of the past.“We shall soon overcome the security and all other challenges facing us,”he said. The traditional ruler, who promised to support the government and security agencies to fight crime and criminality, also said he would continue to offer wise counsel to those in authority to succeed.

He commended the chapel for organising the lecture, describing the choice of the topic as “apt”. Mr Joseph Lankwap, the Chairman of the PRTVC chapel of NUJ, said that the choice of the topic for the event was aimed at finding lasting solutions to the lingering insecurity in the country. Lankwap said the role of the non-state actors in tackling insecurity was crucial, hence the need to amplify it toward achieving a more secure society. “I am optimistic that today’s lecture will highlight on these challenges and chart the way forward,”he said.

Supreme reports that representatives of security agencies, government officials, religious leaders, media practitioners, among others, participated in the event.
