The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr Lateef Olatunji, says women in position of authority are always outstanding in their performance.

Olatunj said this on Tuesday in Offa while speaking at the valedictory event marking the end of a five-year tenure of Mrs Mulika Aliyu as Director, Institute of Continuing Education (ICE), in the polytechnic.

According to him, women in position of responsibilities as chief executives have proved to be more diligent and target-concerned, a trait that makes them excel in most cases.

He commended the director for a job well done, noting that Mrs Aliyu had caused the school to serve as a good lifeline generation for the polytechnic by way of fund generation and good accountability of funds.

The rector said revenue generation through the institutes’s mounted programmes, inventions, innovations and other initiatives by Mrs Aliyu had increased in the most tidy manner.

This, Olatunji, said has became a challenge to other functionaries in the polytechnic community.

The rector also commended the director for maintaining high standard of discipline and steady growth of academic activities, which had earned the institution merits for meeting the expected standard of teaching and learning.

Earlier, the director listed her achievements recorded in the last five years, including mounting Part-Time National Diploma (ND) academic programmes after securing approval of the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB).

Aliyu also listed physical developments she executed to facilitate good academic exercise in the institute situated at the Mini campus of the polytechnic.

Such projects, she said, were converting unused hostel buildings to lecture rooms and general renovation of structures that were in bad shape in addition to various inventions through researches.

Supreme reports that the institute at the occasion conferred Distinguished Service Awards to all categories of personnel who had served the ICE since it was established in 1994.

Among them were the past and current rectors of the polytechnic.

The award recipients also included past directors, some of who were given post humusly, deputy registrars and heads of departments.
