Accirding to the programme, processions will hold in the country’s 10 provinces.

Kaunda, 97, died on June 17 after which the government announced a 21-day mourning period.

Vice-President Inonge Wina said that the funeral processions which would start on June 23, would see the remains of the former president being taken around the provincial capitals.

She said that the processions would be held under strict COVID-19 regulations.

“However, the entire processions including the church service will be transmitted live on TV.

“The arrangement will enable millions of viewers at home to follow the proceedings and have a closer view of the remains of the late president,” she said.

Wina added that the provincial programme would include route lining where residents in the provinces would line up at designated routes to view the cortege and pay their last respects.

She said that a state funeral would be held on July 2 at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, the country’s capital.

According to her, the remains of the former president will be buried on July 7.
